Finally the security line at airports might go faster

One thing I have never understood is why security at airports is such a cluster fuck. We've been doing this for decades and we still haven't figured out how to make it a smoother, more bearable process. I understand you have to check people and do some mandatory things but it's 2018, let's figure this out.

(Another thing I will never understand and might be worse is plane boarding but we'll get to that another time.)

I'm always in such a good mood, ready for my next trip, and then security just absolutely kills the vibe. Every time. Finally we may have a new technology that will not make you want to blow your brains out before you board.

(CNN) — London's Heathrow Airport is trialling X-ray scanners that could one day spell the end of passengers frantically removing toiletries from their hand luggage -- or at least, that's the plan.

The scanners feature 3D imagery, meaning security staff can see objects inside people's baggage from all angles.

The scanners, which will be trialled over the next six to 12 months, can also detect hidden explosives, the United Kingdom's Department for Transport (DfT) said in a statement.

Currently, passengers must remove all laptops and liquids such as water, shampoo and toothpaste from their hand luggage before passing through security.

The only things guaranteed while traveling are:

1. Someone holding up the line because they are unprepared to take their items out
2. Someone holding up the line because they have to sort their liquids

That's just a guarantee. The most frustrating thing is people know what the're going to have to do in security they come completely unprepared like a deer in headlights.

The bad news is this technology won't come in for a few more years but I'm glad we might be getting an upgrade to an incredibly frustrating process. I'm all in for the smoothest trip possible and this is going to save us a lot of time and energy.

That said, I've been to some airports where security is extremely organized. So shout out to Geneva Airport, KeflavĂk International Airport and Amsterdam Airport Schiphol.
